The age restriction that prevents women over 40 from participating in the state fertility treatment program in Ukraine may be revised in the future based on demand and medical needs.

The age restriction that prevents women over 40 from participating in the state program for infertility treatment may be revised in the future. This was stated by Artem Sereda, Head of the Kharkiv City and Kharkiv Region Department of the Northern Interregional Department of the National Health Service of Ukraine, in a commentary to UNN.

Details

Ukraine has introduced a program of free infertility treatment using assisted reproductive technologies as part of its medical guarantees program. The NHSU announced that all citizens have equal access to medical services under the program. However, there is an age limit: women over 40 cannot participate in the fertility treatment program.

"We will see how many women apply, what health problems they have in a certain period of time. The medical guarantee program is not static, it develops and modernizes every year to suit the conditions in which our country is, so it will be revised if there are appropriate needs and reasons for this," he says.
