A transgender man kidnapped a 4-day-old baby from a perinatal center in Poltava region, claiming he wanted to have a child he would never be able to have, and now faces 5 to 10 years in prison.
A newborn baby from a perinatal center in Poltava region was abducted by a transsexual man. According to the National Police, the kidnapper has been detained, UNN reports.

The police note that surveillance cameras showed a woman leaving the establishment with a large package. However, investigators found that the attacker was a transgender man.
"The detainee explains his actions by saying that he really wanted a child he could never have, so he committed the crime. The child is fine, law enforcement officers returned the baby to the mother at the perinatal center," said Yevhen Rohachov, head of the Poltava regional police.
The police investigative unit, under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor's Office, is conducting a pre-trial investigation into the criminal proceedings opened under Article 146(3) and Article 367(2) (abduction of a minor and negligence that caused grave consequences) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The police investigators are preparing a motion to serve the suspect a notice of suspicion and to choose a custody as a measure of restraint.
The 25-year-old kidnapper now faces 5 to 10 years in prison for his actions.
On July 14, the Kremenchuk police received a report from a woman that her 4-day-old baby had disappeared from the postpartum room of the perinatal center.
