A photo of a church in Vinnytsia region made it into the top ten best in the world

A photograph of a church in Vinnytsia region took ninth place in the international stage of the "Wiki Loves Monuments" photo contest, entering the top 10 among more than 233 thousand works. This was reported by Wikimedia Ukraine, according to UNN.

The results of the international part of the world's largest photo contest of cultural heritage monuments "Wiki Loves Monuments" 2025 have been announced – ninth place among 233 thousand photos was taken by a photograph depicting the Church of the Intercession in the village of Mykhailivka. The author is Yuriy Repalo. The photo is dated May 1, 2017.

The church in Mykhailivka, depicted in the photo, was built in 1901–1907, and is now an architectural monument of local significance with protection number 66-M.

Also, the author of the work, Yuriy Repalo, is a regular participant and multiple winner of the competition, who uploaded more than 2700 works in 2025.

The 2025 competition period lasted from September to October, with almost 3800 participants uploading more than 233 thousand photos of monuments from 56 countries. These works can be used to illustrate articles on Wikipedia, as they are uploaded under a free license to Wikimedia Commons, a sister project of Wikipedia and its centralized media file repository for wiki projects.
