A collaborator of the occupation "Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation", which operated after the seizure of Balakliya, will spend 13 years behind bars

A former employee of the local heating network in Balakliya, Kharkiv region, who collaborated with the Russian occupation forces and participated in raids and repressions against civilians, was sentenced to 13 years in prison for collaboration.
Thanks to the SBU's evidence base, another collaborator who collaborated with Russia during the occupation of Balakliya in Kharkiv region was sentenced to 13 years in prison. After the appeal period expired, the sentence came into force. This was reported by the press service of the SBU, according to UNN.
According to the SBU military counterintelligence, the convict is a former employee of the local heating network who joined the occupation "Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs" after the seizure of the community. There he was appointed to the so-called "rapid response unit" that carried out mass repressions against the town's residents,
Details
Together with the occupiers, he participated in raids on local residents who opposed the Kremlin regime. During such "raids", people were abducted to Russian torture chambers and their homes were looted under the guise of "searches".
For his cooperation with the aggressor, he received a "salary" in Russian rubles from the leadership of the occupation body.
After the release of Balakliya, the collaborator first "laid low" at his temporary residence address, and then tried to escape to the village of Pershotravneve in Kharkiv region. There he planned to hide from justice.
However, he did not succeed. SBU military counterintelligence officers established his whereabouts and detained him in the spring of 2023.
Based on the SBU materials, the court found the offender guilty under Part 7 Art. 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (collaboration) and sentenced him to 13 years in prison.
