A police officer was killed and three others were injured when a room collapsed during renovation work in an old two-story building in the Greek port city of Piraeus.

In the Greek port city of Piraeus, a room in an old building collapsed on Tuesday morning during renovation work. A policeman was killed and three other people were injured. Law enforcement officers detained 7 people in the case. This is reported by  Ekathimerini, writes UNN

According to preliminary information, a 31-year-old policeman was killed when a room in an old building collapsed. He was trapped in a truck with fallen building materials.

The two-story building was undergoing renovation when the accident occurred.  

A team of 24 firefighters and a rescue unit were still trying to determine whether more people were trapped in the rubble. 

Law enforcement officers who arrived at the scene detained five workers, a contractor, and a truck driver.
