According to the publication, the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the politician will travel to Washington at the invitation of Donald Trump, and the meeting at the White House is scheduled for Tuesday. At the same time, the White House has not yet officially confirmed these talks.
Instead, the U.S. administration confirmed that a meeting between Donald Trump and President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy will take place at the White House on Tuesday.
Politico notes that the talks will take place against the backdrop of escalating tensions between the US and Iran, as well as a new escalation of the Russian-Ukrainian war. The publication recalls that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio met this week with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on the sidelines of ASEAN events in the Philippines.
"The hardest part is finding an end to the war that both sides can accept. We have tried and will continue to try to find a compromise. And we are ready to play that role if the opportunity arises," Rubio told reporters.
