Ukraine's energy system is being prepared for the hot days of August with expected increased loads, the schedules for repairs of nuclear power plant units have been adjusted, larger imports are being prepared, but preparations are also being made for possible schedules - for industry and business, reported First Vice Prime Minister - Minister of Energy of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal on social media on Thursday, writes UNN.
We are preparing Ukraine's energy system for maximum August loads. Already next week, forecasters predict abnormal heat, which, according to our calculations, could increase electricity consumption by 1 GW
He reported on a meeting with the leadership of "Ukrenergo", "Energoatom", "Ukrhydroenergo", "Naftogaz", NEURC, where "we discussed how to ensure balance in the energy system during this period, which also coincides with scheduled repairs at generating facilities".
According to him, "following the instructions of the Ministry of Energy, a set of measures has already been taken aimed at ensuring the stability of the network's operation", namely:
- "the schedules of repairs at generation facilities, in particular nuclear power plant units, have been adjusted";
- "a decision is being prepared to increase the volume of electricity imports, as well as to stimulate the purchase of imported electricity by businesses for their own consumption";
- "available domestic generation will be maximally utilized, primarily additional gas generation and existing thermal generation capacities".
"We expect that these and additional measures will fully meet the needs of consumers," he stated.
At the same time, "Ukrenergo" is also preparing for the possible application of power limitation schedules for industry and business. Everyone can help the energy workers.
