Sowing-2026 - almost a million hectares have already been sown with spring grains

In Ukraine, 828.3 thousand hectares of grain have been sown, which is 14% of the plan. Odesa, Ternopil, and Mykolaiv regions became the leaders in sowing.

Ukraine has already sown almost a million hectares of spring grain crops, the Ministry of Economy reported on Tuesday, writes UNN.

As of April 7, all categories of farms have sown a total of 828.3 thousand hectares of grain and leguminous crops. This is 14% of the projected areas. In particular, spring wheat has been sown on 111.1 thousand hectares, spring barley on 420.9 thousand hectares, peas on 186.1 thousand hectares, and oats on 86.5 thousand hectares.

The leaders in terms of field work are:

  • Odesa region: 162 thousand hectares (wheat - 10 thousand hectares, barley - 35 thousand hectares, peas - 95 thousand hectares, oats - 1.2 thousand hectares);
    • Ternopil region: 80.9 thousand hectares (wheat - 13.3 thousand hectares, barley - 58.4 thousand hectares, peas - 4.1 thousand hectares, oats - 4.6 thousand hectares);
      • Mykolaiv region: 73.3 thousand hectares (wheat - 2.1 thousand hectares, barley - 38.5 thousand hectares, peas - 31.2 thousand hectares, oats - 0.5 thousand hectares).

        In some regions, other crops have also started to be sown. For example, in Dnipropetrovsk region, 0.25 thousand hectares are already under millet.

        At the same time, farmers continue to sow industrial crops. A total of 60.7 thousand hectares have been sown. In particular, sugar beets currently account for 42.3 thousand hectares - which is 21% of the forecast.

        In addition, farmers in Volyn, Dnipropetrovsk, Lviv, Mykolaiv, Rivne, Sumy, and Ternopil regions have already sown 18.3 thousand hectares with sunflowers.

        Farmers in Lviv region have sown 0.1 thousand hectares with soybeans.
