The SBU detained three residents of the Donetsk and Chernihiv regions for disseminating data on the movement of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The perpetrators face up to eight years in prison.

Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) officers have exposed and detained three bloggers who "leaked" the positions of the Defense Forces on social media. They were detained in the Chernihiv and Donetsk regions, UNN reports with reference to the SBU.

Details

One of the detainees - a resident of Kramatorsk, Donetsk region - published the movement routes and temporary basing locations of Defense Forces military columns on the TikTok social network. The illegal information received nearly 100,000 views on the social network, the SBU reported.

At the same time, two more suspects were detained in the Chernihiv region; they served as administrators of Telegram channels used to disseminate the locations of Ukrainian troops and law enforcement officers. These channels had many thousands of subscribers, the report says.

One of the suspects shared the coordinates of checkpoints and movement routes of police patrols with 17,000 subscribers. The other perpetrator is a local draft evader who was hiding at home from mobilization while simultaneously distributing the movement directions of TCC (Territorial Recruitment Center) mobile groups on his page with nearly 6,000 subscribers

- the SBU noted.

Smartphones and computer equipment used to "leak" the geolocations of the Defense Forces were discovered and seized from the detainees. An expert examination initiated by the SBU confirmed the facts of the detainees' cooperation with the enemy.

The perpetrators were notified of suspicion under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:

  • Part 1 of Art. 114-1 (obstruction of the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations during a special period);
    • Part 2 of Art. 114-2 (dissemination of information regarding the movement, motion, or location of the Armed Forces of Ukraine or other military formations created in accordance with the laws of Ukraine, where they can be identified on the ground).

      The detainees face up to 8 years in prison.
