Russia plans to send a second oil tanker to Cuba after the US allowed the first vessel to enter for humanitarian reasons in late March. This was reported by Reuters with reference to Russian Energy Minister Sergey Tsivilev, writes UNN.

According to the agency, the new vessel is already being loaded. This is about continuing supplies amid strict Washington restrictions that have effectively blocked large oil supplies to the island for more than three months. On March 30, the US made an exception and allowed a Russian tanker with 100,000 tons of crude oil to enter, but the White House stressed that this does not mean a change in the overall policy of pressure on Cuba.

Experts do not expect a harsh reaction from Washington
Brett Erickson, head of Obsidian Risk Advisors, believes that the US is unlikely to escalate further over the new supply.

The arrival of a second tanker could be another test for US sanctions as Cuba continues to experience a severe fuel crisis.
