French President Emmanuel Macron stated that he will seek to convince US President Donald Trump to continue supporting Ukraine and increase pressure on Russia to help reach a peace agreement, UNN reports citing AP.
On Monday, Macron is scheduled to meet with Trump at the G7 summit in the French resort town of Évian-les-Bains, where Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is expected to join for talks on Tuesday.
In an interview with the French television channel TF1, Macron stated that he wants the United States to say: "We are with you, we will continue to support Ukraine and increase pressure on Russia to achieve meaningful negotiations."
"The right negotiations are those in which Ukraine and Russia are at the negotiating table, but there are also Europeans and Americans," Macron said.
