Two men, residents of Kharkiv and Donetsk regions, were reportedly able to get the closest to the state border through the highlands of the Carpathians. "The travelers, in their opinion, were well prepared for the "walk" on foot, and to appear less noticeable among the forest thickets, they even bought camouflaged kikimori pants and T-shirts. However, 50 meters from the border, they were "declassified" by a border patrol," the SBGS said.
Two more offenders from Donetsk region were detained 100 meters from the border, and two of their "followers" from Ivano-Frankivsk region were detained 150 meters away.
In total, border guards detained 15 border violators at one site yesterday. "Some of the "conquerors" of the mountain peaks were completely unprepared for the routes they had planned for themselves using online maps. Without a sufficient supply of food and water, wearing shorts and flip-flops, the men walked towards the border for several days, not realizing the danger they were exposing themselves to," the SBGS noted.
Reports on administrative offenses under Art. 204-1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses "Illegal crossing or attempt to illegally cross the state border of Ukraine" were drawn up against the detainees, and the cases were sent to court.
