The President of Finland expressed condolences over the massive Russian attack on Ukrainian cities and communities on the night of July 2 and assured of readiness to help.

Zelenskyy informed about the consequences of this Russian strike and emphasized that it is impossible to defend against ballistic missiles without a sufficient number of appropriate missiles for Patriot systems. Strengthening air defense is Ukraine's top priority now.

The leaders discussed which partners and how exactly can help Ukraine strengthen its anti-ballistic defense, and agreed to work together on this.

Alexander Stubb separately noted the successes of Ukrainian soldiers on the front line.

"Everyone sees how the situation is changing in Ukraine's favor, how effective long-range sanctions are. This is the right pressure on russia. We are looking for formats to intensify diplomacy," the Head of State noted.

The presidents exchanged views on ideas that could help and coordinated next steps.

The leaders also discussed bilateral defense cooperation. Ukraine and Finland are preparing to sign important agreements in the near future.

Minister of Defense of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov sent letters to almost 40 partner countries requesting the urgent transfer of Patriot missiles from existing stocks to Ukraine this month.

Context

On the night of July 2, russia launched a massive combined attack on Ukraine. According to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the enemy used 74 missiles of various types and 496 drones. The russians chose Kyiv as the main direction of the strike. Air defense forces neutralized 524 aerial targets: 48 missiles and 476 UAVs.
