Starting April 15, the first European Center for Ukrainian Unity will open in Berlin, where people can receive consultations on returning home, as well as participate in educational and cultural events. This was reported by the Ministry of Social Policy, Family, and Unity of Ukraine, writes UNN.
Details
According to the latest Eurostat data, over 4.3 million Ukrainians are under temporary protection in EU countries, with the largest number – 1.2 million – in Germany. In this context, Unity Centers for Ukrainians abroad are an important element of the policy to maintain our citizens' connection with Ukraine and facilitate their return home.
We appreciate the support of the EU and the German government in facilitating the opening and operation of the Unity Center in Berlin. Germany was the first country with which Ukraine signed a joint declaration on the opening of a Unity Center. We want the Center in Berlin to become a space for maintaining our citizens' connection with Ukraine, as well as a place where verified information can be obtained to make a decision about returning home.
Currently, international and Ukrainian organizations have already joined the Center's work. Their participation ensures a wide range of services – from consultations on returning and receiving social services in Ukraine to educational, cultural, and integration programs and events.
In addition, the Center will provide consultations from the Pension Fund of Ukraine on issues related to pensions, housing subsidies, benefits, insurance contributions, etc.
There will also be regular events for children and youth based on the Ukrainian scout model, career guidance and training in digital technologies for children and adults, seminars and consultation meetings on education and combating disinformation.
The Unity Center in Berlin will be administered by "National Unity Agency" LLC. After opening, the space will operate in test mode, and updates on its work can be followed on its official Facebook page.
