Update

On June 25, the Pechersk District Court of Kyiv placed People's Deputy Mykola Tyshchenko, who was served a notice of suspicion by the State Bureau of Investigation regarding the illegal deprivation of liberty of a former serviceman in Dnipro, under 24-hour house arrest for a period of 60 days with the requirement to wear an electronic monitoring bracelet.

Context

A video appeared on social media showing individuals in Dnipro, allegedly bodyguards of People's Deputy Mykola Tyshchenko who was visiting the city, beating a man. The footage shows unidentified individuals in military uniforms without insignia beating a handcuffed man. Notably, the man being attacked was with a baby stroller.

Later, a full version of the video of the conflict emerged, in which Tyshchenko also appears. As media outlets discovered, the man who was handcuffed is a veteran of the Kraken unit. The conflict allegedly occurred because the MP was walking around the city in military uniform, despite having no connection to military service and not being a veteran.

Local law enforcement stated they did not cooperate with Tyshchenko. Police opened two criminal proceedings: for the infliction of minor bodily injuries and illegal deprivation of liberty. Tyshchenko himself explained the situation on social media by claiming that the "serviceman allegedly attacked the police," and also asserted that the veteran was supposedly the head of security for a "bot farm."

At the same time, Tyshchenko added that he has no security detail. Furthermore, Tyshchenko claims it was a provocation. According to him, the former serviceman served in the Kraken unit but was discharged due to his mother's health condition. Tyshchenko also emphasized that the victim is no longer a serviceman.

The Head of the Office of the President, Andriy Yermak, condemned the shameful behavior of People's Deputy Tyshchenko and his conflict with the serviceman, hinting that law enforcement agencies should respond appropriately.

Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin announced a notice of suspicion for People's Deputy Tyshchenko regarding the illegal deprivation of liberty of a former serviceman of the GUR Kraken special unit in Dnipro.
