President Zelenskyy signs a law allowing people from the occupied Ukrainian territories to confirm their education for employment or further education in Ukraine
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has signed bill No. 9591 on the recognition of educational results in the occupied territories, according to the parliament's website, UNN reports.
Details
"21.12.2023 - returned with the signature of the President of Ukraine," the document's status report reads.
The law on the recognition of educational results of persons residing in the occupied territories is expected to help people who have moved to the government-controlled territory to get rid of difficulties with employment or continuing their education due to the lack of Ukrainian educational documents.
As previously reported by one of the initiators of the document, MP Roman Hryshchuk, the law introduces a certification mechanism to confirm the knowledge and skills acquired.
"We do not recognize any document issued in the occupied territory, but we can recognize the knowledge that Ukrainians have gained while under occupation," he explained.
Thus, the adoption of the draft law enables certification to recognize the educational results of persons who studied in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.
"Recognition of a maximum of 75% of ECTS credits (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System) for higher education. As well as unconditional study of the Ukrainian studies component: the Ukrainian language, the history of Ukraine for all those who received their education in the occupied territories," said Hryshchuk.
