President Zelenskyy met with UN High Commissioner for Refugees Grandi to discuss humanitarian aid, winterization, and the launch of a UN-supported platform to help Ukrainian refugees return home.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi. They discussed humanitarian support and assistance in preparing for the winter period, UNN reports.

"A meaningful meeting with UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi. Among the main topics were humanitarian support for Ukraine and assistance in preparing for the winter period," Zelenskyy said.

Zelensky thanked the High Commissioner for his support of Ukraine.

"We appreciate today's announcement of a new UNHCR assistance package in the amount of one hundred million US dollars to prepare Ukraine for the winter. In the context of constant shelling of energy facilities, this is very important assistance," Zelensky said.

The President emphasized that Ukraine needs additional support to rebuild destroyed housing and arrange shelters in schools and hospitals so that Ukrainians can return home.

"My team has informed me that, as of today, the total amount of humanitarian aid has reached 2 billion since the beginning of the war. I look forward to continuing such support," Zelensky said.

Filippo Grandi reminded that this is his fifth visit to Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion.

The UN High Commissioner noted that during such visits he aims to show donors what is really happening in Ukraine so that they continue to allocate funds to help Ukrainians. He said that he had already visited some of the areas in Kyiv that were bombed last week and the Okhmatdyt children's hospital.

Zelenskyy and Grundy noted the launch of a new information portal "Ukraine is Home", which, with the support of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, will provide the necessary information to Ukrainians planning to return home.
