The Ministry of Economy of Ukraine warns of the negative consequences of a VAT increase for all citizens. Instead, it is proposed to impose a military duty on goods that are not essential.

The increase in the value added tax (VAT) has its consequences that will negatively affect all citizens, especially vulnerable categories. This was stated by the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine, UNN reports.

The Ministry of Finance insists that the VAT increase will automatically lead to higher prices for basic goods, including medicines and basic foodstuffs: bread, milk, butter, etc.

At the same time, the Ministry of Finance emphasizes that a more socially just model is proposed instead, which provides for the imposition of a military tax, in particular, on goods that are not essential goods. These include cars, real estate and jewelry.

It is worth noting that cars imported by charitable and non-governmental organizations and transferred to the Armed Forces of Ukraine will not be subject to military duty, as they are not registered at the Service Centers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs
