The resolution calls for the immediate, safe and unimpeded delivery of large-scale humanitarian assistance directly to the Palestinian civilian population throughout the Gaza Strip.
In the resolution, the Security Council reaffirmed the obligations of the parties to the conflict under international humanitarian law, especially with regard to the protection of civilians and civilian objects, the safety of of humanitarian personnel and the provision of humanitarian assistance.
The Council demanded that the parties to "allow, facilitate and enable" the immediate, safe and unimpeded delivery of humanitarian assistance on a large scale directly to the Palestinian civilian population to the Palestinian civilian population throughout the Gaza Strip.
They also called for "rapid" establishment of a UN mechanism to speed up the delivery of aid to Gaza through states that are not parties to the conflict in order to streamline the delivery of aid.
