Kyiv • UNN
Ukraine plans to invite foreign men aged 25-60 to voluntarily report to military recruiting stations for military service in 2024, with potential sanctions for non-compliance being discussed.
In 2024, Ukraine wants to draft men of military age from 25 to 60 years old who live abroad, including in Germany, the Defense Minister said in an interview with WELT, UNN reports.
Details
According to Umerov, Ukraine wants to call up men of military age between 25 and 60 who live abroad for military service next year. This is an invitation, not a forced visit to the military commissariat.
The publication notes that the head of the Defense Ministry made it clear that sanctions are planned if someone does not comply with the request.
"We are still discussing what will happen if they do not come voluntarily," Umerov added.
In addition, the Minister of Defense noted that there should be clarity for the men on how they will be trained and equipped, where and when they will serve, and when they will be discharged.
Recall
The military proposed to mobilize an additional 450-500 thousand people at the Supreme Commander-in-Chief's Headquarters.
