Ukrzaliznytsia suffered a massive cyberattack: online ticket sales are temporarily unavailable
Kyiv • UNN
Ukrzaliznytsia's systems were cyberattacked, online ticket sales have been suspended. Train traffic is stable, their operation is proceeding without delays, ticket sales are carried out through ticket offices.

Ukrzaliznytsia's systems were subjected to a cyberattack, the company said, initially pointing to a technical failure of the IT system, noting that online ticket sales were suspended, but train traffic was stable and running without delays, UNN writes.
Ukrzaliznytsia's online systems were subjected to a large-scale targeted cyberattack. The restoration of all systems lasted all day yesterday and is currently ongoing
Ukrzaliznytsia specialists, as indicated, are closely cooperating with the cyber department of the Security Service of Ukraine.
"The key thing the enemy failed to do: train traffic is stable, they run smoothly without delays, and all operational traffic processes are debugged in a backup format. The railway continues to move despite physical attacks on infrastructure, and the most insidious cyberattacks will not stop it!" - emphasized in UZ.
Since Ukrzaliznytsia has been the object of enemy cyberattacks before, the company, as indicated, "has implemented backup protocols".
"The last attack was very systematic, non-trivial and multi-level, so before a full recovery from "backups", specialists from UZ, many involved partners and the SBU cyber department must carefully test the services for possible vulnerabilities," UZ noted.
Currently, online ticket sales remain unavailable and we are preparing to work offline during this day
How does Ukrzaliznytsia work?
- tickets are sold through ticket offices. Ticket offices are being reinforced with staff, and working hours are being extended;
- international tickets are activated for sale at ticket offices on March 24 and 25 (usually only online);
- in extreme cases, if you do not have time to purchase a ticket through the ticket office, go directly to the train. Train crews are informed how to process your travel on the spot (apologies in advance, there may not be seats of all classes available, but they strive to take everyone).
If you are planning a trip later than the morning flights on 25.03
- we strongly ask you not to storm the ticket offices today. They will work with an exclusive priority on serving passengers departing today-tomorrow;
- we will inform you immediately after the restoration of online services and everyone will be able to purchase a ticket online.
How to return tickets?
Anyone who wants to return their train ticket departing on March 24 can do so online. At least one hour before your flight, send us a scan or clear photo of your ticket and contact phone number to [email protected]. The return request will be processed within 3 days from the moment the systems are restored.
