The Government of Ukraine has approved a draft law introducing self-governance in the healthcare sector, which focuses on self-regulation of healthcare professionals and protection of stakeholders' rights.

Ukraine is working on the possibility of introducing medical and pharmaceutical self-government, and the government has approved the relevant draft law. This was announced on Tuesday by the government representative in the parliament Taras Melnychuk in Telegram, UNN reports.

According to him, the government has approved the draft law "On Self-Governance in the Healthcare Sector in Ukraine."

According to Melnychuk, the draft law proposes:

  • to consolidate at the legislative level the status of self-governing organizations, their place and role in the system of management of medical and pharmaceutical professions and the healthcare sector in general; .
  • to introduce a model of medical and pharmaceutical self-governance based on national and international experience, which:
    enable business and professional entities to self-regulate medical activities;
    create legislative grounds for delegating certain functions currently performed by public authorities to doctors, pharmacists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals united in self-managed organizations.

It also provides for the regulation of the protection of the rights and interests of both representatives of the medical and pharmaceutical professions and patients.
