U.S. President Donald Trump had spent several weeks preparing to declare victory over Iran, but Tehran’s tougher conditions regarding the Strait of Hormuz stood in the way. The Wall Street Journal reports this, citing unnamed sources familiar with the matter, UNN informs.

But achieving this goal became more difficult after Iran insisted on Saturday on a higher price for allowing freedom of navigation through the waterway, demanding, among other things, billions of dollars in U.S. payments, the withdrawal of American troops from the region, and an end to the U.S. naval blockade
It is indicated that Trump will most likely agree to extend the current ceasefire indefinitely. At the same time, if Tehran fully opens the strait, the United States may lift the military blockade of Iranian ports.
