Judge Tanya Chutkan on Monday denied Trump's request after his lawyers asked the court in October to approve subpoenas for documents from the National Archives and Records Administration, House Administration Committee Chairman Bennie Thompson, and the Democratic House Speaker in the January 6 case.

Trump's lawyers argue that there are missing records from the now-dissolved committee that they would like to prepare for trial. But committee members claim that there is no missing material.

Trump's defense lawyers have not yet commented on whether they will appeal the judge's decision.

The former president pleaded not guilty to four charges that he tried to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election.

Trump's lawyers asked Chatkan to withdraw from the case, but she said she would not do so.
