The Sea Story ship sank off the coast of Egypt with 31 tourists and 14 crew members on board. Rescuers found the survivors near the city of Marsa Alam, and the search operation is ongoing.

A ship with 45 people on board, including about 30 tourists from different countries, sank off the coast of Egypt in the Red Sea, a rescue operation is underway, Bild reports, UNN writes.

The crew of the Sea Story sent a distress call early in the morning, said the governor of the region, Major General Amr Hanafi.

Some survivors were found near the coastal town of Marsa Alam, popular with divers and other tourists. They are to be evacuated by airplane and frigate, as well as provided with medical care. It is not yet clear from which countries the tourists came.

According to Hanafi, the yacht left the port of Ghalib yesterday and was supposed to arrive in Hurghada on Friday. There were 31 tourists and a crew of 14 on board.

Rescuers and the navy continue to search for the others, Hanafi said.
