The Armed Forces of Ukraine will receive the ADAM (area Denial Artillery Munition) artillery system, the mopms (Modular Pack Mine System) portable system and the Volcano system for remote installation of Mines.
The ADAM anti-personnel mining system uses a 155-mm artillery shell that opens in the air and scatters 36 small mines. After landing, the mines are also mounted on tripods, and when the detectors are triggered, the mine throws out a warhead that explodes at a height of about 1.5 meters.
The MOMS modular mine system, which can be carried by two soldiers, distributes 17 anti-tank and 4 anti-personnel mines to the selected area.
The Volcano system allows you to quickly create mini fields by throwing a set of anti-personnel and anti-tank mines from cylinders that are installed on wheels or aircraft. This is the most powerful support package granted since April, and it comes at a time when concerns are growing in Ukraine about a possible reduction in aid from the future Trump administration.
Among the new deliveries are also drones, man-portable air defense systems and anti-tank missiles.
The Pentagon noted that this assistance is part of a strategy to support Ukraine in the context of the resumption of the Russian offensive. In addition, Ukraine receives assistance under the presidential Drawdown Authority (PDA) mechanism, which allows you to transfer supplies to the Pentagon without having to make new contracts, which takes much longer. Since the beginning of 2024, the United States has already transferred Україні 4.6 billion to Ukraine under such programs.
