The Russian Orthodox Church called on Russians not to criticize the authorities and "not to open their rotten-toothed mouths" at their superiors

Archpriest Andrey Tkachev linked obedience to the authorities with honoring one's parents. He stated that Satan taught people to criticize their superiors.
Russians should get used to obeying those in authority, in particular by honoring their parents, said Archpriest of the Russian Orthodox Church Andrei Tkachev. The Moscow Times writes about this, reports UNN.

Tkachev linked disobedience to the authorities with violating the biblical commandment to "honor your father and mother." According to him, a person who follows this commandment supposedly "does not open his rotten-toothed mouth" against any authority figure.
He stated that people were "taught by Satan" to criticize state or church authorities. He also said that honoring parents could have prevented revolutions and uprisings in Russia, since people would be afraid to "raise a hand against those whom God has placed above" them.
The Moscow Times recalled that representatives of the Russian Orthodox Church had previously called having an opinion of one's own a danger for Russians. Patriarch Kirill has also repeatedly urged citizens to have a positive attitude toward the Russian authorities and Vladimir Putin.
