The Pentagon is asking American industry to rapidly increase the production and supply of weapons, including ammunition, which is in acute short supply because of the war with Iran. The Washington Post reports this, according to UNN.

According to the publication, Deputy Secretary of Defense Steve Feinberg sent a letter to industry leaders stating that companies have no more than 21 days left to submit plans for "significantly accelerating and increasing the pace of deliveries or boosting production of critical components."

Multi-year development cycles are unacceptable. We must drastically accelerate the timelines for implementing our programs and immediately expand production capacity

- Feinberg wrote.

The publication notes that, according to an analysis by the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS), as of last week the number of Patriot missiles worldwide had fallen from 2,200 (before the war with Iran) to fewer than 827, while THAAD missiles had declined from 453 to fewer than 278.
