In the first half of 2023, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine codified more than 60 new models of domestically produced ammunition, including more than 50 models for drones, mortar shells of various calibers, artillery shells, melee weapons, and small arms ammunition.

In the first half of this year, the Ministry of Defense codified more than 60 new models of ammunition. This was reported by UNN with reference to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

Details 

The ministry said that it was ammunition for UAVs, mortar shells, artillery shells, melee weapons, and small arms ammunition. All of them are products of the domestic defense industry.

50 samples from this list are ammunition for drones. In particular, high-explosive fragmentation, high-explosive fragmentation, combined-action and multi-purpose munitions. They also vary in weight: from several hundred grams to more than several kilograms

The next  numerous group -   - are mortar shells of various calibers.

According to the Main Directorate for Support of the Life Cycle of Arms and Military Equipment, the procedure for obtaining a NATO nomenclature code for a new model of arms and military equipment has been simplified to 10 days.

Samples of domestically produced weapons and military equipment that have undergone codification are allowed to be procured at the expense of the state budget.

Since the beginning of 2024, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has codified and authorized more than 70 samples of domestically produced unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) that perform various tasks of reconnaissance, artillery fire adjustment, and destruction of enemy targets.
