The Ukrainian government has launched a project to introduce veterans' support specialists across the country to help veterans and demobilized soldiers transition from military to civilian life, provide advice on employment, training, social protection, rehabilitation, and the exercise of their rights and benefits.

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has adopted a resolution that provides funding for a project to introduce specialists to support veterans and demobilized persons throughout Ukraine as part of the system of transition from military service to civilian life. UNN reports this with reference to the Government portal.

The adopted document defines the procedure, conditions and mechanism for providing a subvention from the state budget to local budgets in 2024 to ensure the implementation of the project. In particular, it addresses the issue of remuneration for specialists in supporting veterans and demobilized persons. This year, UAH 2,924,445.5 thousand is allocated for the project,

It is noted that the project to introduce support specialists for veterans and demobilized persons in Ukraine was developed by the Ministry of Veterans. It will operate on a peer-to-peer basis, and the responsibilities of support specialists will include individual professional support for veterans and their families in the transition from military service to civilian life.

They will advise on employment, training, aspects of social protection and rehabilitation, improving health, and generally exercising their rights and benefits in various areas.

It is about coordinating support for defenders in obtaining statuses, services and assistance, professional advice on where and how to get an education, undergo advanced training programs or, for example, get a certificate of skills, where to find a job, including for people with disabilities caused by war, and many other services. In other words, a specialist is an information and consulting partner of the veteran community,

According to him, all the questions and needs that veterans will have should be accompanied and supported by such specialists. They will also analyze the problems, and we will respond and correct them promptly. The priority for the positions of specialists in support of veterans and demobilized persons is veterans who express such a desire, as well as their families and families of fallen soldiers.
