The Corvette ZR1X beat Porsche and McLaren in a grueling speed test

The hybrid Corvette ZR1X posted the best time in a test to 240 km/h and a complete stop, beating 12 competitors. The Lucid Air Sapphire reached 240 km/h faster.

The hybrid Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X defeated 12 competitors in a test of acceleration to 240 km/h followed by braking, conducted by Car and Driver at the Oscoda-Wurtsmith airfield in Michigan, Autoblog writes, as reported by UNN.

The test assessed not only the cars’ ability to reach 240 km/h quickly but also the effectiveness of their braking to a complete stop. The Corvette ZR1X posted the best combined result, although the fully electric Lucid Air Sapphire reached 240 km/h faster.
The 2026 Corvette ZR1X used for the test cost $255,960, while the model’s starting price was about $238,000. The car is equipped with a 1,250-horsepower hybrid powertrain and weighs 4,125 pounds, or about 1,870 kg. For the test, it also received Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R ZP tires, 20-inch front and 21-inch rear wheels, and carbon-ceramic brakes with 16.5-inch discs.
Corvette defeated 12 competitors
The Corvette ZR1X accelerated to 240 km/h in 9.1 seconds and then came to a stop in 4.8 seconds. Its overall result was 14 seconds, which was enough to win the test.
The Lucid Air Sapphire reached 240 km/h faster than the Corvette but completed the full cycle in 14.4 seconds. The Porsche Taycan Turbo GT Weissach posted 14.8 seconds, the McLaren 750S - 16.1 seconds, the Porsche Cayenne Turbo Electric - 16.4 seconds, and the Porsche 911 Turbo S - 17.4 seconds.
Next in the rankings were the BMW M5 with a result of 21.8 seconds, the BMW M2 CS - 23.2 seconds, the Bentley Continental GT S - 24.1 seconds, the Audi RS6 Avant - 24.7 seconds, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N - 27.4 seconds, the Dodge Charger Scat Pack - 37.2 seconds, and the Hyundai Elantra N - 43.6 seconds.
Separately, Car and Driver conducted a test of acceleration to 200 mph, or approximately 322 km/h, involving the Corvette ZR1X, Lucid Air Sapphire, Porsche 911 Turbo S, and McLaren 750S. The Lucid won this test with a time of 25.7 seconds. The Corvette was about 6 seconds behind it, partly because of the additional drag from the rear wing.
