The Rada's Committee on Anti-Corruption Policy believes that the NACP should verify the declarations of Yevhen Sokur for accuracy. Sokur did not indicate in his declaration the information about his partner, with whom he has been living since 2016.

The National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption should check the declarations of the acting deputy head of the State Tax Service of Ukraine, Yevhen Sokur, for their authenticity. This opinion was expressed by Anatoliy Burmich, a member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Anti-Corruption Policy, in an exclusive commentary to UNN.

Context

The acting deputy head of the State Tax Service, Yevhen Sokur, entered probably unreliable data in his 2023 declaration. In particular, he did not indicate in the document the information about his partner. During the investigation into the case of an alleged assassination attempt, Sokur himself told law enforcement officers that since 2016 he had been living with a girl named Alina in an apartment at 6-D Lobanovskoho Avenue.

"They (the NACP - ed.) should investigate this, because every civil servant must declare their assets. Even if they are in a civil marriage and have a permanent household, live together, the law stipulates that civil marriage and official marriage are equally treated," Burmich said.

He added that the NACP may take the UNN investigation as a basis and conduct an audit of Yevhen Sokur's declarations. In addition, according to Burmich, the parliamentary anti-corruption committee may take control of the relevant check.

Burmich added that the NACP should establish whether Sokur lived with his girlfriend for more than 180 days a year and whether they have a common household.

The MP does not rule out that Sokur could have failed to include information about his partner in the declaration due to imperfect knowledge of the law.

Recall

Earlier, UNN reported that the attempted assassination of the acting deputy head of the State Tax Service of Ukraine, Yevhen Sokur, raises many questions about its authenticity. It could have been stagedto divert attention from the criminal proceedings against Sokur for abuse of office.

This is a criminal proceeding opened on November 4, 2022 under Part 3 of Art. 365 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, on the fact of abuse of office by the acting Deputy Head of the State Tax Service of Ukraine Yevhen Sokur, who on October 26, 2022 issued an order to revoke the license of PJSC Ukrtatnafta for the production of fuel.

Such actions of Sokur, according to the investigation , caused serious consequences for the company and the state in the form of the inability to fulfill the mobilization tasks of the Ministry of Defense for the production and supply of petroleum products for the needs of defense and defense capability of the state.
