According to a statement to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the accelerator pedal pad can move out of place and become trapped in the interior trim.
According to the NHTSA, the recall affects model year 2024 Cybertrucks manufactured between November 13, 2023 and April 4, 2024.
As of Monday, Tesla was not aware of any collisions, injuries, or deaths related to the issue. Production cyber trucks were equipped with the new accelerator pedal by Wednesday of this week.
Tesla, headed by billionaire Elon Musk, has announced that it will replace or repair the accelerator pedal assembly for free. Owners can contact customer support.
Notification letters are expected to be sent to vehicle owners in June.
The carmaker delivered the first dozen of its futuristic Cybertruck pickups to customers in November, two years behind schedule, and it is unclear when large-scale production will begin.
