The brothers were detained in Miami by U.S. Marshals Service officers as part of an extradition procedure. Earlier, Andrew Tate was scheduled to hold a fist-fighting tournament near the James L. Knight Center sports complex.
The detentions were confirmed by the U.S. Department of Justice and the Crown Prosecution Service of the United Kingdom. According to media reports, the brothers are expected to appear before a federal court in Miami next week.
The British prosecution is seeking the extradition of the Tates in a case involving seven victims. In total, the brothers face 59 charges, including rape, sexual assault, organizing or facilitating human trafficking for sexual exploitation, and other crimes.
Andrew Tate, in particular, is accused of seven rapes, three counts of organizing or facilitating human trafficking for sexual exploitation, three assaults causing actual bodily harm, as well as offenses related to sexual material involving children and pornography.
Tristan Tate, in turn, is accused of two rapes, sexual assault, and three counts of organizing or facilitating human trafficking for sexual exploitation.
According to the British side, the brothers committed the crimes from July 2010 to August 2017.
It should be noted that the Tate brothers themselves deny all charges.
Context
In parallel, criminal proceedings against the Tates are ongoing in Romania. They are accused of cases related to human trafficking, rape, and sexual exploitation of women. In June 2026, Tristan Tate was also separately charged with incitement to assault or other forms of violence.
Earlier, the United Kingdom obtained arrest warrants for the brothers, but their extradition was postponed due to criminal proceedings in Romania. After travel restrictions were eased, the Tates left the country and began traveling freely.
In June 2026, the brothers, in particular, visited Russia, where Andrew Tate appeared at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
Now, the further fate of the brothers will be decided by a U.S. court as part of the extradition procedure. Until a final decision is made, the Tates are considered accused, not convicted.
