"Starting in September, 'Defense of Ukraine' will be taught in a new way: the model curriculum has been marked 'Recommended,'" the statement reads.
The program, as indicated, is aimed at both the formation of patriotic consciousness and a system of values, as well as the development of practical skills to save lives. Its peculiarity is the same content for all students, regardless of gender, which provides equal opportunities to acquire important skills, the Ministry of Education and Science noted.
The update of the "Protection of Ukraine" was reportedly carried out in a comprehensive manner: taking into account current challenges and needs in the field of national security, taking into account the experience and recommendations of leading experts, NGOs and educators.
What will be studied in the updated "Defense of Ukraine":
- 10th grade: The content is devoted to the issues of national security and defense of Ukraine, familiarization with the basics of management and planning, weapons and military equipment, marksmanship training, terrain orienteering, engineering fortification, and first aid.
- 11th grade: more attention to military technology, information warfare, first aid, protection of civilians in crisis, and planning for the future.
The program can be found at link.
"First of all, the course is focused on practical application of knowledge. The training will take place throughout the day, instead of separate lessons each week, for a deeper immersion in the material and more effective practice of practical skills. For this purpose, centers with modern equipment are being created - computer simulators for controlling drones, interactive shooting simulators and tools for mastering the rules of first aid," the Ministry of Education and Science said.
As noted, a subvention of UAH 1.64 billion is provided for the purchase of equipment.
