Smuggling of precious stones: diamonds, tourmalines and emeralds detained in Volyn region

Customs officers and the SBU found a batch of stones in a car at the Ustyluh checkpoint. The two Ukrainian women were carrying 99 stones that looked like diamonds, tourmalines and emeralds.
In the Volyn region, customs officers together with the Security Service of Ukraine detained two Ukrainian citizens who tried to smuggle large batches of precious stones through the Ustyluh checkpoint. This was reported by the State Customs Service of Ukraine, UNN reports.

During the customs inspection of a car crossing the border with Poland through the "green corridor", a batch of precious stones was found. According to the information, 67 diamond-like stones were found in the first aid kit, and an additional 26 stones were found in the compressor for inflating the tires. In addition, 6 stones similar to tourmaline and emeralds were found under the front passenger seat.
The value of the seized gemstones has not yet been determined and will be established in further proceedings. Customs officers drew up a report on violation of customs rules under Part 1 of Article 483 of the Customs Code. This case may be the first recorded case of commodity smuggling for Volyn Customs.
