The first round of presidential elections is underway in Slovakia. The second round may take place on April 6.

Polling stations will close at 22:00.  

If none of the nine candidates receives a majority of votes, the two candidates with the highest number of votes will advance to the second round of elections. It is scheduled for April 6.

Reportedly,  Parliament Speaker and leader of the Hlas party Peter Pellegrini, who is supported by the main ruling Smer party, and former foreign minister and diplomat Ivan Korčok, a non-partisan candidate supported by most opposition parties, have a significant lead over the other candidates. However, Pellegrini is said to remain the favorite.
