Six athletes from the Kyiv region are going to the Olympics from Ukraine. Four of them represent Brovary.
Of the six athletes from Kyiv region who will defend the honor of Ukraine at the Olympic Games in Paris, four will represent Brovary. This was reported by the head of the Department of Physical Culture and Sports of the Brovary City Council, Dmytro Rozhkov, in a commentary to UNN.
According to Rozhkov, there is a possibility that Brovary will be represented by as many as five athletes.
"The final composition of the Ukrainian Olympic team will be approved on July 7. And someone may be selected according to the world rankings. In particular, all-around athlete Yulia Loban has such a chance, although it is not very big.
Meanwhile, Brovary will be represented by Artur Felfner in javelin throwing, Liudmyla Olyanovska in race walking, Alina Hrushyna (Akobia) in freestyle wrestling and heavyweight boxer Dmytro Lovchynskyi," said Dmytro Rozhkov.
A representative of the city council noted that all the athletes are currently abroad at the final stage of preparation for the Olympic Games, which will open on July 26.
However, Arthur Felfner will still have time to play at the Diamond League stage.
Rozhkov added that all the athletes are expected to perform well and are hoping for medals. And for Brovary, it is a great honor that four athletes represent their city.
"As a former athlete, as a master of sports and a champion of Ukraine, I understand that for every athlete, just getting to the Olympic Games is a huge achievement. After all, these are the highest-rated competitions on the planet, which take place every four years, and the best of the best compete there.
And if we take into account the composition of the entire national team and the fact that four athletes from our community made it to the Games, it is clear that this is cool and this is the top. It shows the level of our coaches and athletes.
If we analyze it, in general, several athletes from Brovary are sure to compete at every Olympic Games," summarized Dmytro Rozhkov.
