Question of several months: Hetmantsev on raising the excise tax on autogas
Kyiv • UNN
Daniil Hetmantsev believes that the excise tax on autogas should be increased. Moreover, according to him, the idea of increasing the excise tax on gas cars is being discussed at the level of the Cabinet of ministers.
The decision to raise the excise tax on autogas is a prospect of several months. This was stated by the chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on finance, tax and customs policy Daniil Hetmantsev, reports UNN with reference to Enkorr.
"About UAH 60 billion of excise taxes and VAT accounted for budget revenues this year," Hetmantsev said.
He noted that an increase in the excise tax on autogas is a prospect of several months.
"The only argument why the gas excise tax used to be low is that there were once stronger lobbyists in the LPG market than in the gasoline market. The ratio should be in energy intensity. If we apply this logic to the rate for gasoline of 213 euros per 1000 liters, the rate for gas should be 160-170 euros. This is a European practice, " he said.
As enkorr wrote earlier, Daniil Hetmantsev believes that the excise tax on autogas should be increased. Moreover, according to him, the idea of increasing the excise tax on autogas is being discussed at the level of the Cabinet of ministers.
Recall that from July 1, 2023, fuel taxes in Ukraine returned to the level that was in force before the full — scale invasion of Russia in Ukraine: VAT — up to 20%, excise tax on gasoline — up to 213 euros, diesel fuel-up to 139 euros per 1000 liters. at the same time, the excise tax on autogas is 52 euros per 1000 liters..

Fuel market expert Leonid Kosyanchuk reported in November that in the event of an increase in the excise tax on liquefied gas, the price of it will increase by approximately two Hryvnia.
Kosyanchuk noted that he personally does not support the idea of raising excise taxes.
However, the oil and Gas Association of Ukraine (Nau) explainsthat such a step should have been taken a long time ago , since there is an imbalance between excise rates on autogas and other fuels. And in the event of an increase in excise taxes, operators are convinced that the gas market will become more predictable and transparent.
