Over 30 children were on the bridge, six injured: investigation launched in Bukovyna

In the village of Vyzenka, a wooden bridge collapsed with children on it; six of them have been hospitalized. The Prosecutor's Office is investigating the improper performance of safety duties.

In the Chernivtsi region, more than 30 children were on a wooden bridge when it collapsed, six of whom were hospitalized. Law enforcement officers are investigating the improper provision of child safety, UNN reports with reference to the Chernivtsi Regional Prosecutor's Office.
The Vyzhnytsia District Prosecutor's Office has initiated a pretrial investigation into the improper fulfillment of duties regarding the protection of children's life and health (Part 1 of Article 137 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the investigation, on June 6, in the village of Vyzhenka, Chernivtsi region, 55 children from the Kharkiv region were on an organized vacation. During a walk, more than 30 children under the age of 15 were on a wooden suspension bridge over the Vyzhenka River taking photos when the structure suddenly collapsed.
As a result of the fall, six children sustained injuries and were hospitalized in medical facilities in Chernivtsi. They were preliminarily diagnosed with traumatic brain injuries, concussions, fractures, bruises, and hematomas
Law enforcement officers are currently establishing all the circumstances of the incident. Compliance with safety requirements during the organization of children's recreation is being checked, as well as the technical condition of the bridge and the actions of the persons responsible for its maintenance and operation.
The pretrial investigation is ongoing.
