OUN leader Andriy Melnyk and his wife will be reburied in May 2026. The ceremony will take place at the National Military Memorial Cemetery.
The head of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN), Andriy Melnyk, and his wife, Sofiya Fedak-Melnyk, buried in Luxembourg, will be reburied at the National Military Memorial Cemetery (NMMC) on May 24. This was reported by the Patriarchal Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church (UGCC) in Kyiv, according to UNN.
On May 22-24, 2026, memorial services will be held at the Patriarchal Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in Kyiv in connection with the arrival in Ukraine of the mortal remains of the leader of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists, Colonel of the UNR Army Andriy Melnyk and his wife Sofiya Fedak-Melnyk. The solemn reburial will take place at the National Military Memorial Cemetery,
Specifically, on Friday, May 22: at 7:30 and 9:00, Divine Liturgies for the repose with a Panikhida will take place; 15:00 – Parastas service; 18:00 – Vespers; 19:00 – Prayerful reading of the Psalter.
On Saturday, May 23: at 7:30 and 9:00, Divine Liturgies for the repose with a Panikhida will be held; 15:00 – Central memorial service – Funeral rite with the participation of bishops, priests, and laity from various parts of Ukraine (participation of statesmen and government representatives, as well as a live broadcast, is expected).
On Sunday, May 24: at 7:00, the transport of the coffins to the National Military Memorial Cemetery and reburial in the Pantheon of Prominent Ukrainians is scheduled.
Andriy Melnyk – Colonel of the UNR Army, head of the OUN from 1938-1964 – died in Luxembourg in 1964 and was buried there alongside his wife.
