German billionaire and one of the country's most influential entrepreneurs, Klaus-Michael Kühne, has died at the age of 89. The logistics company Kühne+Nagel announced his death today. According to Forbes, Kühne's wealth was estimated at approximately €38 billion, reports UNN.

According to Bild, Kühne was associated with Kühne + Nagel for many years, a company founded by his grandfather in 1890. At the age of just 29, he took over the company and later transformed the family business into an international group. Through his holding structure, Kühne also owned large stakes in Hapag-Lloyd and Lufthansa, as well as shares in Brenntag and the transport company Flix.
Kühne was particularly closely associated with Hamburg and the HSV football club, to which he donated millions of euros over many years and helped finance transfers. Kühne and his wife, Christine, had no children. A significant portion of his fortune has already been transferred to the Kühne-Stiftung charitable foundation, which will play a key role in managing his assets.
