NATO and South Korea to consider 'flagship project' on Ukraine at summit - Stoltenberg

At an upcoming summit in Washington, NATO and South Korea will consider a "flagship project" to medically rehabilitate Ukrainian soldiers and expand intelligence sharing, reflecting a deepening of their partnership amid concerns about North Korea's military support for Russia's war against Ukraine.
NATO and South Korea will consider a flagship project on Ukraine at the Washington summit. The flagship project partly concerns the medical rehabilitation of Ukrainian soldiers. NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said this during a press conference on July 5, reports UNN.

"First of all, the Republic of Korea is a highly valued partner. I've visited the Republic of Korea several times as NATO Secretary General, and the President has also been here for NATO summits and meetings. And next week's NATO summit will be the third consecutive NATO summit that South Korea and the president have attended, and I think that reflects how we have deepened and strengthened our partnership," Stoltenberg said.
Ot noted that North Korea is providing significant military support for russia's war of aggression against Ukraine.
"At the same time, we see North Korea investing in nuclear and missile capabilities. We are deeply concerned that in exchange for the support that North Korea is giving to russia, russia is helping North Korea with its missile and nuclear programs. So this just demonstrates the interconnectedness between our security and the security of South Korea and the Asia-Pacific region," Stoltenberg said.
That's what makes the partnership so important, he said.
The flagship projects are about several things. Partly about medical rehabilitation of Ukrainian soldiers, how we can cooperate more closely on issues related to, for example, and technology. And these are specific projects where we can do more together. We're also exploring opportunities to increase intelligence sharing with South Korea. So, there are different areas where we are working together, partly within the flagship concept and partly on a bilateral basis, NATO and South Korea
