Ministry of Defense announces appointment of military ombudsman

Defense Minister Rustem Umerov has announced that candidates for the position of military ombudsman are being prepared. The new institution is being created to protect the rights of servicemen and process their complaints.
Ukraine will appoint a military ombudsman, several candidates are being prepared. This was stated by Defense Minister Rustem Umerov during a briefing, UNN reports.
We have been working on proposing a military ombudsman. This year, we focused on working through the number of complaints and lawsuits. If I'm not mistaken, we have processed several thousand. We are currently preparing several candidates to make an announcement on who will be the military ombudsman
He noted that the ministry wants to protect the rights of the military. In particular, the minister emphasized the importance of working with the HCJ and other law enforcement agencies, as well as the main inspection of the Defense Ministry.
“We are working in this direction and will announce it soon,” Umerov added.

On April 3, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine established the Central Department for the Protection of the Rights of Servicemen, an institution that includes a military ombudsman.
