The agents died along with two Mexican law enforcement officers when their vehicle veered off a mountain road in the northern state of Chihuahua.
The incident occurred after an operation to destroy a suspected drug production laboratory.

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum stated that the government was not informed about the participation of American agents in this operation, calling it a violation of security protocols.
