Man finds mortar shell while walking in Kyiv

While walking in the Sviatoshynskyi district of Kyiv, a man found an object that looked like a mortar shell. The police reminded Kyiv residents of the safety rules for detecting suspicious objects and urged them to be careful.
In one of Kyiv's districts, a man found an object similar to a mortar shell while walking, UNN reports, citing the Kyiv patrol police.
"The day before, a man called 112 and reported that while walking in Sviatoshynskyi district he had found an object similar to a mortar shell," the statement said.
Law enforcers secured the scene and called explosives experts.
Kyiv residents were also reminded of what to do if they find ammunition or objects similar to explosives:
- report the find to the 112 hotline;
- warn people nearby about the suspicious object and mark or fence it off;
- wait for rescuers at a safe distance from the dangerous object.
"Be careful and do not try to neutralize suspicious objects, touch them or move them," the police summarized.
