At least 44 people were killed in two nighttime road accidents in southeastern Afghanistan. This was reported by Reuters, according to UNN.

The accidents occurred on Wednesday in Ghazni province, both involving buses. According to Hamidullah Nisar, head of the provincial Department of Information and Culture, 76 more people were injured, several of them in critical condition.

One of the accidents involved a fuel tanker and the other a truck. All victims were taken to local hospitals where they are being treated. The local authorities are investigating the causes of the accidents and providing support to the families of the victims and injured.
