The Cabinet of Ministers has adopted a resolution on state grants for applicants for contract education. Grants from UAH 15 to 25 thousand can be obtained through Diia, provided that the applicant has high NMT scores.

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has adopted a resolution to allow this year's applicants for contract education to receive additional financial support - a state grant. It can be obtained through Diia. This was reported by UNN with reference to the Ministry of Education and Science.

"This year, applicants applying for contract education will have a unique opportunity to receive additional financial support - a state grant. This will help to partially cover the cost of studying at any bachelor's program (or medical training program). This decision was made today by the Government of Ukraine and was developed by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine in cooperation with the Ministry of Digital Transformation and the Ministry of Economy," the statement said.

The state grant is an opportunity for applicants who will receive their first higher education under a contract to receive UAH 15 thousand or more per year to cover part of the tuition fee.

The Ministry of Education and Science clarified that admission to the state-funded form remains unchanged: if a student enters a state-funded place, the state pays the entire cost of education.

An applicant can receive a grant who:

- enrolls in a bachelor's (or master's) degree program in medicine, veterinary medicine, or pharmacy after high school or college;

- is enrolled in a full-time or dual enrollment program on a contract basis;

- has NMT (EIT) results in any two subjects with scores of at least 150 points (first-level grant) or at least 170 points (second-level grant).

In general, the amount of the grant is determined individually for each student, based on the results of the NMT and taking into account the specialty coefficient.

It is reported that applicants with a NMT score of 150 points or more in any 2 subjects have the opportunity to receive a grant of UAH 15 thousand.

The 2nd level grant provides that applicants with a NMT score of 170 points or more in any 2 subjects will be eligible for a grant of UAH 25 thousand.

"It is important to note that the amount of the grant may be larger (i.e., multiplied by the appropriate coefficient), depending on the chosen specialty.

The Ministry of Education and Science notes that some specialties do not have a first-level grant, only a second-level grant (i.e., for applicants with at least 170 points in at least two subjects).

If a student enters on a state-funded basis, the state pays the entire tuition fee. State grants will not affect those students who are enrolling on a state-funded basis this year, they will receive full tuition from the state.

Algorithm for obtaining grants:

- To apply for a state grant, applicants must decide on their preferred educational institution and select the appropriate study program through their electronic applicant account. We recommend that you familiarize yourself with the contract price for the selected program to understand how much of this cost can be covered by the grant. If the applicant meets the conditions for receiving a grant, he/she will receive a notification in his/her electronic account.

- After successful enrollment in the desired program, the student must apply for a grant through his/her electronic account in the Unified State Electronic Database of Educational Information (USEDI) between September 5 and October 31, 2024. After the application is processed, the student will be informed about the grant for the first year of study with the corresponding amount. Note that the grant is provided for the entire period of study, but payments will be made twice a year.

- After your grant application is approved, you will need to go through electronic identification and authentication through the Diia mobile application; select a grant service in the Diia mobile application. Next, you need to open an account with a special mode of use in one of the banks of Ukraine to credit the grant.

- If the applicant is a minor, one of the parents or legal representatives submits a request for a state grant. The funds received in the form of a grant can only be used to pay for education at the university with which the relevant contract has been signed.
