This was announced by the mayor of the city Vitali Klitschko, reports UNN.
"Today, according to tradition – on St. Nicholas Day, lights were lit on the main Christmas Tree of the country on St. Sophia Square in the capital. Our Christmas tree, like last year, is artificial and 15 meters high (last year's tree was 12 meters).
But this year it is Snow-White. It was re - installed and decorated at the expense of patrons," Klitschko wrote.
He noted that the pure white color of the Christmas tree symbolizes the beginning of a bright and clean path, reminding of the renewal that Christmas and New Year bring.
A light blue Garland 2 km long enveloped the tree with a gentle glow. It is decorated with 2 thousand turquoise toys. This symbolic design is combined with the majestic facade of St. Sophia of Kiev, creating a magical atmosphere.
