The "Tisza" party elected András Baka as its candidate for the presidency by secret ballot. The vote in parliament will take place on August 11.
In Hungary, the parliamentary faction of the ruling Tisza party decided by secret ballot to nominate former Supreme Court President András Baka for the presidency. Hungary’s Prime Minister Péter Magyar wrote about this on X, reports UNN.

Commenting on Baka’s nomination, Magyar highlighted his many years of experience as a lawyer and judge at both the national and international levels.
"Throughout his career, Dr. András Baka has considered the principle of the separation of powers extremely important and has consistently upheld the rule of law and the independence of the judiciary. His life is an example of dedication to the democratic rule of law and constitutional principles," Magyar said.
According to him, Tisza is convinced that Baka’s experience and professional independence, which he demonstrated throughout his career, "are of particular value at this time, when we are working together to lay the foundations of Hungary’s new constitutional order."
"Dr. András Baka is worthy of embodying the unity of the entire Hungarian people and serving as President of the Republic," Magyar said.
He said that the Tisza faction had been offered the opportunity to choose a presidential candidate from among three contenders. The faction decided by secret ballot to nominate András Baka for the presidency of Hungary.
The National Assembly of Hungary will vote to elect the head of state on August 11.
